I believe in simple designs that bring out the natural beauty of wood. From my observations at craft shows people are attracted to a piece through a combination of its design and the character of the wood. I am always looking for pieces with unusual markings as my raw material. My favourite timber is British yew. The combination of its sap wood and heart wood colours makes for an interesting final piece. At craft shows visitors will comment while running
their fingers over a piece, 'wood is very tactile isn't it?' It certainly
is as well as being beautiful when well designed and finished.
At present I have on offer: wooden wine goblets, clocks, bowls, mushrooms, boxes, vases tealight holders and paper knives. Selling over the internet is a challenge as the senses cannot come into play in the same way as at craft fairs. For this reason demand over the internet tends to be for commissioned items for special projects. It is challenging to meet the many different requirements but I am happy to have my talents challenged. Check my gallery for examples of my
work.
